Current Project: Up in the air
Status: Back to square one
For various reasons, the idea I submitted for consideration didn't work. I was given some suggestions on how to fix it and next week will decide if I want to make those changes or work on some of the other ideas I have rambling about in my head. I'm glad it all happened this way as I had invested just a little time and two pages instead of a huge synopsis and three chapters.
Today Eli and I are signing our books at Borders in Salem. If you're out and about, stop by and say hi. Please don't feel you have to buy something, I'd just like to see your smiling face.
Hope your weekend is a good one despite the turn in the weather. How are you doing on your projects?

Bummer on the proposal, Alice, but it sounds like you have other options if you decide not to make the changes.
Wish I could stop by the signing, but we're still out of town. Today all three kids are looking rather perky. Finally. Two of the kids went tubing with their dad yesterday. Today, all of us might make it.
I did some outlining last night. I've decided to try an indepth full outline before I write. I finished a few chaps to see if this idea will work, and I'm happy with the results.
Oh, Alice, what a shame. I know you really liked that idea, too.
I'm in deep edit-mode right now. The book is done, I love the "ahhh" ending, and now I'm going through to fix stuff. And having fun in the process! I just finished chapter thirteen. Only 14 more to go.
Kendra, sounds as though you have a new way of doing things. How clever of you to give a deep synopsis a run through and see if it's something that interests you.
Have fun tubing!
Karen, it's okay, really, I get excited about any idea I work up. This one wasn't written in blood or anything, and I can certainly see where my editor is coming from. There'll be another one tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I always admire your attitude about editing. I bet it shows through in the finished work. Have a good time with chapters 14 onward!
Alice, sorry about the proposal. Headed to the book signing here in Spokane right now. I had over 30 people in my workshop. Even though there were a few glitches with the power point it went well.
I made progress on the WIP this week, not sure where I'm at, have to head out or I'd look but I'm blogging on Monday, so I'll have true count for you then then.
Hi, Alice! It was so good to see you and Eli at the signing today.
Have fun with your proposals, whether you decide to make the changes to the one that was submitted or work up other ideas.
It was fun to see Lisa collecting books! Reminds me of most of my trips to Borders. Lisa, I want to know what your total book count was before you left. :)
Kendra and Karen, sounds like you both are enjoying the writing phase where you are now. That's very cool!
I'm still doing edits on my novella, CHASING RAINBOWS. I'm very pleased with the direction of it, and still on target to have it ready to critique by the end of the month.
Great seeing you today!
It seems to me that Alice now has quite the portfolio of rejected ideas to shop for a ST . . . . . Wink Wink Wink :)
Kendra, Where can you go tubing in March?
Hoodoo. They have an amazing set up.
Paty -- Congrats on a full workshop and the progress you are making on your WIP. Hope you enjoy what's left of your conference.
Genene, it was wonderful seeing you, too. We had a good time visiting with those hearty souls who braved the elements to lend support. As this was the first book signing Borders had hosted in quite awhile, both Eli and I were glad so many of you came. Lisa, the little trooper, stayed the whole time -- I want to know what the final book count was, too.
Wavy, Tavy is adorable! And so well behaved -- Oh, I know she was strapped to your back to keep her from being a seventeen month old toddler in a book store, but she was so bright and happy (and I remember that age being a whole lot noisier!)
It was great talking to you yesterday!
By the way, Paty, congrats on the great turnout for your workshop! And for making progress on your WIP.
I stayed up late last night and made major progress on my novella. All is rekeyed--hooray! Now back through for more major edits. I can really see where I've grown as a writer in the years since this was first drafted. So much telling instead of showing and bouncing points of view, not to mention skimming the surface of emotions. LOL!
But the story itself is fun and I know what needs to be done with it, so am enjoying the process.
It's great to see how you're all doing. I finally handed in my November book, and am at work at a new proposal. And taxes are coming up, too--have to be getting to those.
Just thought I would check in and tell you I'm still here.
Flo
Oh, Flo, it's so good to hear from you! I'm glad you got your book in and are hard at work on a new proposal. I'm doing the same.
Keep in touch!
Hey, Alice! It was good to see you and Eli, Lisa, Bethany and Tavy at Border's yesterday. Thanks for signing a book especially for my mom. I'm sure she'll enjoy it.
Good job to Kendra, Paty, Genene and Karen. It's so inspring to hear about the progress of all our writers each week.
I'm almost up to 17,000 words on my WIP and took a day off Friday. I sat at the computer for 20 minutes and couldn't think of anything to write, so I decided to let it go for this week. I'm hoping the well will be refilled by the time I get back to work on it Tuesday afternoon.
Hope to see you all at the meeting Thursday. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Thanks to all who showed up in support of the booksigning at Borders. It was quite the blustery day, but we appreciated the company!
I'm currently zonked. I feel like I've been doing promo all weekend - yesterday's booksigning, today the writer's resource fair in Portland with Delilah Marvelle. BOTH were well worth my time, but I'm exhausted. Promo is hard work. ;)
As for what I did this week...well...got my page proofs done for STOLEN HEAT and worked out some kinks on my option proposal. I'm hoping to have the new proposal done (or close to done) this week. Oh, and I finished my revisions on the first paranormal, which has an "official" title of MARKED (they're sticking with the original title...woohoo!). And the series will be called "Eternal Guardians". The book is now printed and off to the NYT Bestselling author who offered to read it and give me a cover quote. Fingers crossed she likes it!
Hi, Flo!
It's so good to have you stop by and let us know what you're doing! I hope you return often!
And, Eli, glad you went to the resource fair with Delilah! I would have just sent my bookmarks up with you if I had you were going. :) You've had a busy, busy week!
Hey Genene...
I thought of that when I got there and Delilah had a bunch of your goodies! LOL
Yes, it was a busy weekend. I'm still pooped. 7AM came way too quickly this morning.
Oh...and the Lost proposal. ROFL. It IS lost. (or that's how it feels, at least.) Lost is the working title right now. I have no clue what to call this sucker, but it kinda fits (for now, anyway).
