Current Project: Surviving the last week of classes.
Status: Still breathing, but it's labored and sparse.
Well I really don't want to move the Duck down. He just looks so glorious in his prominent display :) So I'm going to keep this short and sweet.
Let's hear how everyone did with NaNoWriMo! Even if you weren't participating officially, post how you did with your writing projects in November. My November was less than successful. Much less than successful.
Would anyone like to get another official challenge up and running again? We've got a writing retreat planned for the end of February. Would anyone like to set a big goal to complete by then, so then if you're going to the retreat you can start a new project? Or maybe a goal for the end of January/middle of February so there's a break worked in to start something new that weekend?
Also, a reminder that our holiday party is next week (Dec. 9) check the chapter e-mail loop for more details.
Lastly, I have a small writing prompt for you: There's a 10 x 10 room. No furniture. White walls. A single light hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the room. There are two individuals in the room: the Beaver and the Duck mascots. What happens?
Let's see how different our minds work :)

The Duck stares the Beaver down until he sees a slight tremor in that brown fur. He begins chanting the Oregon fight song - each time the volume grows inhumanly louder. The walls begin to shine green and yellow, colors of power and goodness.
The Beaver falls to his knees, crumbling under the sheer power of the Duck spirit. He collapses on his back and convulses. His skin begins to twitch and move in strange ways. The Duck watches, knowing.
A hand reaches through the Beaver fur and tears it open. Out pops Bon Jovi.
"You win, Duck. I can no longer fight your prowess. The Ducks are greater than the Beavers." Bon Jovi kneels and kisses the Duck's feet.
-The End-
Ooooh...that's just WRONG on so many levels. I don't even know where to start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Beaver and the Duck stare at each other in bewilderment. Finally, one of them says, "So, what about them Broncos? Think they'll make the playoffs?"
BWAHAHAHAHA!
I failed NaNo, but I'm fine with it. I can only push myself so far, and writing every day was the real goal for me anyway.
For the February retreat I plan to bring the print-out of the completed WIP to edit. I did that last year with Knight's Curse and it worked great! Then I'm thinking of writing a novella targeted for Silhouette's Nocturne Bites. Not that I have any ideas yet, but I usually enjoy writing something short in between book projects.
SMACK! The duck jumps when the beaver slaps his tail on the floor. The furry creature's anger makes the duck's feathers molt. Though he's ecstatic with his team's recent win, he is a little disconcerted that the husky tossed him in the room with the beaver.
I didn't officially do NaNo. And I didn't meet my goal for November 30th. I'm hoping by the retreat to have this project in final stages and starting the fourth Halsey brother book.
I was sorry the Beavers didn't win as I would have liked to have seen them play in the Rose Bowl. Past that, can't say as it's a huge issue for me.
Meanwhile, no NaNo for me but I did get the synopsis into the mail on time (whew!) and considering what's been happening in my life, that is something of a miracle. Now I'm waiting for the editor to give me the go ahead and for my mind to settle down into writing mode. Mother not doing well and as I am the only family within a hundred miles, it's a daily struggle right now.
Congrats on everyone who met their goal. As the Feb. retreat comes two weeks after this book is due, my new goal is just to survive until the retreat.
Since I didn't go to either OSU or UO, the whole Beaver-Duck thing just doesn't register with me. I suppose I could do a Reiki session with them so they would live together happily ever after--if they chose to do so. :)
I was doing really well with my unofficial NaNoWriMo until the last week, when planning for the release of my second book hit full force. In spite of that, I rekeyed over 34,000 words of the story I'm working on. I still have some rekeying to do on that story as well as editing, which I'll finish in December.
I haven't set goals for next year yet, other than I know after the first of the year, I'll focus on getting my nine-book series written.
