Too Punny For Words

I thought these couple dozen puns were pretty clever. I didn't write them -- wanted to clear my name on the plagerism thing -- but I'm posting them for lack of time to try to come up with something even as remotely clever.

As fellow wordsmiths, I hope you find these as entertaining as I did.

Enjoy!

1. The roundest knight at King Arthur's round table was Sir Cumference. He acquired his size from too much pi.

2. I thought I saw an eye doctor on an Alaskan island, but it turned out to be an optical Aleutian.

3. She was only a whisky maker, but he loved her still.

4. A rubber band pistol was confiscated from algebra class because it was a weapon of math disruption.

5. The butcher backed into the meat grinder and got a little behind in his work.

6. No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.

7. A dog gave birth to puppies near the road and was cited for littering.

8. A grenade thrown into a kitchen in France would result in Linoleum Blownapart.

9. Two silk worms had a race. They ended up in a tie.

10. Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

11. A hole has been found in the nudist camp wall. The police are looking into it.

12. Atheism is a non-prophet organization.

13. Two hats were hanging on a hat rack in the hallway. One hat said to the other, "You stay here, I'll go on a-head."

14. I wondered why the baseball kept getting bigger. Then it hit me.

15. A sign on the lawn at a drug rehab center said: 'Keep off the Grass.'

16. A small boy swallowed some coins and was taken to a hospital. When his grandmother telephoned to ask how he was, a nurse said, "No change yet."

17. A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion.

18. It's not that the man did not know how to juggle, he just didn't have the balls to do it.

19. The short fortune-teller who escaped from prison was a small medium, at large.

20. The man who survived mustard gas and pepper spray is now a seasoned veteran.

21. A backward poet writes in-verse.

22. In democracy it's your vote that counts. In feudalism it's your count that votes.

23. When cannibals ate a missionary, they got a taste of religion.

24. Don't join dangerous cults, practice safe sects!

What was your favorite? I liked most all of them, except #10 is older than the mountains and I've heard number 11 before too. My favorite are numbers 2, 5 and 19.

Oh, these are great. I thought it'd be easy to choose my favorite, but it's hard!

I guess I'm not as old as the mountains, because I've never heard of #10. In fact, I had to read it twice to get it.

I like 12, 15, and 21.

I did not know know Groucho Marx said it and I had never heard it before, but I also like #10. It's funny and concise.

Kendra, of course you're not old as the mountains!

Number 12 reminded me of a joke I once heard:

What does a dyslexic athiest with insomnia do?

Give up?

He lies awake in bed at night, wondering, is there really a dog?

Haha!

Deborah, is that where those came from? Groucho?

Danita,

I love the dyslexic joke! LOL And I like it even more because I thought up a contemporary with a dyslexic heroine.

What does it say about me that I picked the three "pa dump bump" joke type puns?

Parker is going to be a writer I can tell. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (that's thinking mode)

I don't think it says anything derogatory about you, Paty. The ones they pick just shows everyone's sense of humor -- what they think is funny.

Several liked the more controversial, cutting-edge type jokes, notice that? Others the more standard, classic sort of humor, like you.

Guess I fall somewhere in the middle.

Okay, now see the way I just analyzed that? It drives my DH nuts when I do that. But it's as much a part of my character as my sense of humor -- which, fortunately, the DH doesn't seem to have a problem with, twisted as it is at times!

LOL, Danita!

I usually groan at puns, but these are really clever. I'm not even going to try to pick a favorite--I'm just going to enjoy them all!

Thanks for the laugh!
