Saturday Check In

It was a busy week for me. I had two days of promotion going on, but I managed to crank out around 5,000 words on the contemporary WIP. At the moment I'm stopped due to research. Trying to get someone from a chamber to contact me about info for a rodeo and I need medical questions answers. I 've sent the questions to a couple of people but no response so far.

I'm posting this early and then you won't hear/see me until Tuesday. I'm judging 4-H clothing skills contest today and have a wedding to attend tonight, then the dh and I are headed to the other property until Monday. So, I'll be busy today and no internet for two days. Hopefully on the trip there and back I can add to the word count.

How was your week? Are you enjoying the sunshine!!!!!!

Wow, Paty! Great job on the word count! Sounds like you are making great progress in spite of some delays for research.

I'm still plotting my nine-book series. Didn't get to it every day, but I reviewed book 1, which is farther along than I remembered (it's one I drafted a couple years ago), drafted the character and plot arcs for book 2, and know the basic structure for book 9, which is the parents' story of these eight adopted siblings. I also continue to add to my notes on the other stories.

I'm off to my niece's college graduation/celebration for most of the day, but plan to do more plotting this evening.

And, yes, I'm enjoying the sunshine!

Great word count, Paty! Genene, that sounds like a lot of creative work you did. :-)

My progress--I have a first chapter done I really like on my newest work (not submitted yet). The opening to chapter two, though, I have rewritten at least 5 times this week, so even thought I've written a lot, I haven't gotten very far. Except I've saved all the pages in a separate file, so I can use pieces of them later.

This is kind of funny it's happening, because it's chapter two that's giving me fits this time. The last book, it was chapter one I rewrote and rewrote. It's not little words or dialogue or anything like that--it's the actual approach and conflict and who's on stage that I've been redoing. I have about 24 good pages right now. Also this week, I mapped out my story somewhat, so I have a better idea of where I'm going with it.

That is a good word count, Paty. Sounds like you're cruising along. If you need help with the medical questions, I can forward them to my mom. She's an ER RN.

I'm still revising. Not going as fast as I'd like. I'm probably about a third done and the end is going to need a lot of work. I'm blaming Lisa and Elisabeth who sucked me into reading JR Ward's latest 530 page book.

Did you finish LE, Kendra?

I started the week off with a bang, but ended poorly - too much going on. Ran - and finished - my first half marathon yesterday. I blogged about it on my blog - www.elisabethnaughton.blogspot.com. I'm sore, but feel good about the experience.

I did manage to get 10,739 words in this week, so not too bad. (And that's with Lisa sucking me into the 530-pg JR latest...which I read in 1.5 days so I could put it away and get back to work.) Hopefully next week will be even more productive.

Keep up the good work, ladies!

Come on! I was using the book as an excuse not do very much and here you go and write 11K. And run a half marathon! Yes, I finished. Last night at 11:00.

LOL, Eli! If almost 11,000 words s a so-so week, what do you consider good?

Congrats on finishing your half marathon! My idea of a marathon is walking from one end of the yard to the yard debris cart a bazillion times to toss in the weeds. :)

Sounds you had a good writing week!
