HUGE congratulations to our chapter president Elisabeth Naughton! She just accepted a 3-book deal with Dorchester for her romantic adventure trilogy, beginning with 'Make Me Believe'! The same manuscript that finaled in last year's Golden Heart contest.
Well done, Eli!

I am SO FREAKING EXCITED for you!!! I must begin preparing a spot on my shelf for the series :)
LOLOL. Thanks so much, Lisa. You are such a sweetie!
Don't clear a spot too soon - it'll be a while before that first one comes out. ;)
Again, congrats, Eli! You have to be walking on air! Take the rest of the week to let it soak in then get your butt in the chair and get busy!
Congratulations!!!! I'm so glad for you. I know how good it feels. Enjoy!
Flo (a regular reader of your blog)
!!!!!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!
IT'S ABOUT DANG TIME A PUBLISHER WOKE UP AND BOUGHT YOU!!!
I was beginning to lose hope that there were no smart editors/publishing houses out there in book land because no one was smart enough to pick you up when you first started submitting. But whew, Dorchester had enough sense to offer you the deal and now faith has been restored.
They are lucky to get you girl!
Revel in it! You deserve it!
LOL, thanks, Paty. That's good advice. ;) I don't think I could write right now if I tried!
Thank you, Flo! And thanks for stopping by!
LOLOL. Thanks, Piper. And I'm glad to see your faith in the editors of the world has been restored. ;)
You're a gem!
Eli, I'm so excited for you. I hope you celebrated tonight. Enjoy the euphoria you've earned it.
Lisa, love the graphic! It kind of looks like her, doesn't it?
Eli, congratulations again. I suspect the excitement will last for a long time and then there'll be that moment when a box is delivered to your house and it's full of your author's copies. You have a lot of thrilling stuff ahead of you... oh, and more than a little hard work, but you know that!
Wooooooot!
What more can I say? Except to ask how you and the DH celebrated this monumental occasion. Do tell.
LOL, thanks, Lori. I celebrated by cleaning the toilets.
(Actually, the house was a pit and cleaning yesterday afternoon kept my mind off the fact I need to come up with another book asap!)
We're going out to dinner with friends tonight to celebrate. Last night was just too crazy with kids' sports, homework and activities. Real life does tend to get in the way. ;) (Which explains why I live in a fantasy world half the time. LOL)
Thanks (again), Alice.
Author copies. I can honestly say that's one thing I haven't thought of yet. LOL. The hard work though? Oh yeah, that's foremost in my mind.
Have I mentioned I may not have any eyebrows left when I see you next????
LOLOL, Danita!
My DH suggested we act out one of the scenes in my book. I said, "Okay, but I get to pick the book." To which he replied (quite excitedly), "Oh man. Now I HAVE To read those books!"
*men*
Men, indeed. Such fascinating, simple creatures. Ha!
My books have blood, violence, sex and (yes, I'm admitting it here) curse words. I don't want my grandma to read them. I just don't. I also don't want my MIL to read them. She has this idea firmly planted in her head that I am some sort of angelic being. Ha ha ha! And I'd hate to burst her bubble.
While we were at the retreat, my DH talked to his mom. They talked about my latest book. He told her it was suspense with evil dogs chasing the characters. She said, "Danita wrote something like that?" Like she totally couldn't believe it.
Can you imagine her reaction to a finger-nibbling cannibal? OMG!
Oh, Danita, that is so funny! Your MIL would probably keep her hands away from your face!
The first time I wrote a book with a nasty mother in it, my MIL said, "Your mother is nothing like this woman, Alice." I just kind of stared at her blankly. Duh....
CONGRATULATIONS again, Eli!
So glad you're still celebrating! But, really, cleaning the toilets? What did you ladies do this past weekend that household chores became part of a celebration ritual? LOL!
Glad you're going out to dinner to do some actual celebrating!
Too funny, Danita. I let my mom read the book that sold. When she brought it back she said, "I really liked it, but, Elisabeth!! You don't talk like that! Why are the characters talking like that?!"
Um, yeah. The heroine has a bit of a mouth on her. I tried to explain the whole "they're unique characters and not ME" but she didn't get it. Which, now that I think about it, does not bode well for my mother's impression of me when she reads the next book....
ROFL, Alice. I think the mother in my third book is not going to be very nice. Maybe I shouldn't let my mom read that one either...
Got it, Genene. Definite celebrating tonight. ;)
Congratulations!! What awesome news!!! This is totally inspiring.
