Weekly Progress Check-In

Welcome!  This is the Mid-Willamette Valley RWA chapter's weekly progress check-in.

Did you meet your writing goals last week?  What do you plan to accomplish this week?

(The best prize is achieving your writing goals, but as an extra incentive, we will award gift cards from Powell's bookstore to the chapter member and the non-member who check in for the most weeks in 2012.)

So I think I need to post my blog on Friday. Hmm...
well, I plan on making progress towards my VBT tour. Sent one blog off today.

Hello, all! Last week was not a writing week, but a promo week, for me. I finished up prep for a booksigning at Moonstruck Chocolate in Lake Oswego on Saturday. If you've never been there, I highly recommend it--heavenly!

I also did a guest blog at Coffee Time Romance's Thursday 13, which was fun. Along with the other Rogue's Angels, I pulled actions from the characters in our books that said "I love you." Great way to get in the mood for Valentine's Day!

This week I'm finishing up blog posts for a guest spot at the end of the month and a virtual blog tour that starts March 1 to celebrate the release of the first book of my LEGACY series.

I also have much work to do on the blog and Web pages for my LEGACY series, and really want to finish some book trailers. I also have line edits to do on book #2 of my series. So a busy week ahead but probably not much writing!

I see both of you are hard at work on virtual blog tours -- that must be very time consuming! I hope it leads to lots of sales for you both. :-)

I'm finishing up revisions and formatting for my first Kindle book, and am starting on revisions for the second.

I had to wait two hours (!) at the DMV today to get my car registered, so I spent the time planning my upcoming books for the next year or so. I've got a lot of work to do, with 4 novels and 2 short stories in my Pajaro Bay series, 3 novels and 1 short story for my Tales of the Ariane fantasy series, and 3 novels and and 1 short story in my Bead Girl Mysteries series. Whew. I'm tired already. :-)

Good luck with this week's goals, everyone.

Wow, Barb! You DO have lots of writing to do. But how exciting! At least now you have a plan. For me, that is vital to keeping me on track.

Oh, Genene, half of the books are written already--it would overwhelming if I was writing them all from scratch! I still don't know how you wrote 9 books in such a short time (a year or so???).

Still amazed by all the promo work everyone does. I'm starting on Goodreads, still fussing with how Facebook works (that one still confuses me), and am completely dormant on Twitter. Eventually I'll get it figured out!

Yay for progress and promotions!

I finished my draft!!!!!!!!!!! Yay me :) My baby came in at 4 months drafting gestation and a hefty 64,418 words.

My goal for the week is to decide what I want to work on while I wait to edit. Or if I want to plow into editing.

Barb, thank goodness you already have some of this work accomplished!

I've actually been working on my LEGACY series a number of years. The first book was written six or eight years ago. Then the idea for a series wouldn't leave me alone, even though I was busy with other projects. When I focused my attention on the series, I suppose it did come together well, even if it didn't seem like it at the time. Since the characters are in the same family, once their personalities were established I could blow up the town or whatever and pretty much know how each would react. Though there continue to be surprises. :)

Annabeth/Bethany--a big HOORAY for you! Hope you take the time to celebrate before you leap into your next project!

Thanks Ladies. This is my second book finished in the last 9 months :) My American/Super/Contemporary was finished in September. This is my Blaze-ish target, which Barb & Meggan heard a glimpse of at a meeting. My bad-girl heroine does indeed get a very happy ending with one of the best hero grovel scenes I have done yet. (or so I think)

Sorry, I'm a little out of it this week. My daughter got married on Friday afternoon, and they live with us, so it was a busy week and a weekend to do as little as possible. My brain is not yet fully back with the writing world.

I did meet my goals though, which are simply to write for 20 minutes two times a week. I wrote a new beginning for my Sadie and William story, as an exercise, to see if I could answer the questions asked by Chris, Genie, and Debbie about the pages they were kind enough to look over for me.

I did answer all those questions, but the whole four pages I wrote were too melancholy to be a very enticing first pages. Not sure where I'll go with that next.

Sorry I haven't kept up with everyone. Hope you all have a great week.

Annabeth, you have done so awesome with writing this past year! Congratulations! Are you going to enter both of these in the Golden Heart?

Hey, Meggan! Sometimes life detours us. Not to worry--you'll get back on the writing road. (((HUGS)))
