Weekly Progress Check-In

Welcome!  This is the Mid-Willamette Valley RWA chapter's weekly progress check-in.

Did you meet your writing goals last week?  What do you plan to accomplish this week?

(The best prize is achieving your writing goals, but as an extra incentive, we will award gift cards from Powell's bookstore to the chapter member and the non-member who check in for the most weeks in 2012.)

Yay! Today is the day I rejoin MWVRWA :) Paying with Paypal later.

Last week I got around 2,000 words. This week I want 4,000.

My year long goals are two part: 1) to do *something* related to my professional writing goals 6 days a week. Just having that WIP open every day makes a huge difference. So whether it’s finalizing a contest entry, submission, or drafting a mere 50 words, or powering through 3,000, I want to do something 6 days a week. 2) I want to finish (draft + edit) two MS by Nov. 15. I want two all new GH entries (of course, I’d love to be ineligible, but this would be the *realistic* part of goal setting). I plan to use contest deadlines, writing challenges like Winter Writing Festival, May 50K, Cherry Adair’s Finish the Darn Book, etc to get it done. If I manage to sneak a third complete MS in there, I’m giving myself a special treat TBD by our budget in Dec 2012.

What are your year long goals?

Hooray, Annabeth/Bethany! I'm sooooo glad you'll be rejoining MWVRWA! Good work on the word! Maybe not what you wanted, but still very respectable. Love the way you set goals! Very do-able with well thought out strategies to meet them. Awesome!

I'm still working on edits to the fourth book of my LEGACY series. Those should be finished this week so I can send this manuscript to a beta reader.

Am also doing several promotions: With the other Rogue's Angels for our Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day anthologies; continuing the blog for my Rock'n'Romance trilogy; and laying the foundation for promoting my upcoming LEGACY series.

My goals for this year are to keep writing and editing my LEGACY series, as well as do promotion for all my books and in particular the LEGACY series that will begin releasing in March and every two months after that.

And I want to learn to do magnificent video trailers and animation as well as continue designing book covers--in between cuddling with my doggies. :)

Happy 2012 everyone!

Hi, everyone. My goals for 2012 are to write 1000 words of new material every day, and to post one comment on a blog, email or facebook daily (I'm not good about keeping in touch!). I plan to submit a lot of work in 2012, including at least 3 new projects and 3 revised. We're also buying/building a new home this year, so things will be pretty busy!

Good luck everyone on meeting your 2012 goals. :-)

Sounds like everybody is going to be busy this year!

Genene, I'm still in awe of your release/promotion schedule. Barb, love the new website. And, yay Annabeth! We're all happy you're returning to MWV-RWA. :-)

As for me, my goals for this year are: 1) write 2000 words/day (when I'm in the writing phase of a project), 2) make regular updates to my blog and twitter, 3) complete at least 2 new books. The rest, as they say, is subject to change.

Yay, everyone has great goals!

My goal this year is to begin publishing two new series, both contemporary.

I DID meet my writing goals last week, which were to NOT write, because the week was just too stressful, but to cogitate and percolate about my two current projects, which I most assuredly did. This coming week, starting today, yeah?, is to write at least twice. And I'm halfway there, in spite of illness and post-Christmas arrrrgh, because I sat down (ok, in bed, but I'm sitting) and wrote on my first-person short story for more than an hour. Yayayay!

Darn it. Childcare for tonight fell through. No meeting for me tonight & rejoining has been postponed as paypal funds that were supposed to arrive did not. :( Hoping to see you all in Feb.
