Weekly Progress Check-In

This is the Mid-Willamette Valley RWA's weekly check-in.  Every Monday we encourage members and visitors to let us know how their writing is going.

Today is Monday, April 4, 2011.

Are you on track to reach your goals?

There are 271 days left in 2011.

Weekly Calculations:
If you write 1 page per day, you can write 67750 more words by the end of the year.
If you write 2 pages per day, you can write 135500 more words by the end of the year.
If you write 3 pages per day, you can write 203250 more words by the end of the year.
If you write 4 pages per day, you can write 271000 more words by the end of the year.
If you write 5 pages per day, you can write 338750 more words by the end of the year.

So how are you doing?  If you have gotten off track, this is the week you can regain your momentum.  Tell us how you're doing, and set a fresh goal for the upcoming week.  A page a day is a book in a year.  You can do it!

PRIZES:  The best prize is reaching your personal goal and finishing your book.  But if you need an extra little incentive, remember:  any chapter member who reaches her personal goal by the end of the year receives a prize at the year-end party.  Non-members can win, too.  Non-members who show up for at least 20 weekly check-ins will have their names entered in a drawing for a gift card from Powells, the world's largest independent bookstore.

Woo-hoo, Barb! Time for happy dancin'! Hope you squeeze in some time for celebrating this finished manuscript before you become immersed in the next one.

I only added about 2300 words to my series this past week.

However, I did a major info dump of scenes to the first book which will take a lot of editing. That's what I'll be doing this week, and adding words to the other books as scenes develop.

Happy writing to all!

Way to go Barb!!! Congrats on finishing the book!

Genene, any words are good. You can fix the info dump you can't fix a blank page.

I had a decent week about 7,000 words. Company showed up Thursday and left Sunday. Didn't write a lick yesterday, outside commitments. Hoping to hop into the story this morning and crank out over 2000 and would like to be to the black moment by the end of the week. We'll see how that goes.

Keep chugging away the end will arrive eventually!

Happy dancing for you, Barb!!! WOO-HOO!!!

Genene and Paty, you always amaze me with yur page counts and other accomplishments.

I spent all my time last week working on Romancing the Genres, a new group blog that launches on Blogger the first of May. I hope you'll all check it out!

RTG is mine and Judith Ashley's brainchild for reaching a wide audience while blogging once a month.:)

We've recruited 21 writers from across the US who write in many romance subgenres. Eleven are published in novel-length fiction. Guest bloggers will appear on weekends, including reviewers and quirky, writing-related bloggers.

Paty Jager will post from the perspective of a Western and Native American Romance author.

I'll post more info on the Promo/Announcement loop in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the congrats. :-) Now just waiting for what the outside world (agent and editor) think....

Congrats on your progress Paty and Genene. You guys are such good role models. You just keep going, week after week. My goal is to do 1500 words per day on the new book. Will see how that goes.

Your blog sounds like a great idea, Sarah. It will be fun to hear from all the different authors, so I think you'll build an audience quickly.
