Check-In!

Hoppy Easter!!!

*Quack, Quack*

(Do you know how hard it is for me to put a duck picture up on the blog?????)

Kendra emailed me and pointed out no one posted a challenge check-in yesterday (Paty? Paty? Are you out there?), so I'm taking over. It's 9:51 am, my kids have been up since six, I've had coffee and my fair share of hard boiled eggs. Now I'm sitting down to *try* to write before we head over to G'ma's house for Easter dinner. (Good luck...the Gremlins are on a sugar high already.)

So how did you do this week? I admit my week was not as productive as I would have liked. The kids were off school due to conferences, my girlfriend and I took them to Black Butte for a few days to chill, but they proceeded to argue and make noise and I ended up entertaining them more than I did writing. Total word count was only 8553 for the week. This week they're home for spring break and the forecast is calling for rain, so we'll see how much I get done, cooped up in the house with them. (Aye ya ya...) Gotta make sure I hit that 10 pages per day so I can get this thing done and move on to my revisions.

How did you do this week?

Hey, Eli! Over 8500 words is great!

I did my Easter bunny duties with the grandkids yesterday, so no eggs for me today -- chocolate or hard-boiled.

My writing-related time is still focused on promotion. My cover is up on the "coming soon" page of Awe-Struck's Web site at http://www.awe-struck.net/COMINGSOON/comesoon.html, which is very exciting for me, and I'll be starting a countdown to release day on my Web site tomorrow.

Hope you get some writing done this week!

P.S. You could have posted an Easter beaver today -- and maybe started an entire new marketing trend!

Sorry! Me doing Saturday checkins is hard until my dh starts working Saturdays again. We took the cabin we built to our property in Princeton. Left yesterday morning and got back just about an hour ago.

Eli, you are doing great with the word count! And Genene, your moving along with promo. I managed about 125 pages of revisions this week on Miner. Hope to get that done this week and move on to the new book.

I have been continuing to do the check-ins. I don't mind doing it, I like doing it, but I forgot due to all the sugar-crazed small children running around my house. It is Sunday night now and I am so tired i could die.

Still in the create a book mode -- too many plots, too little brainstorming. I'll get there but it's slow going.

Glad to hear Eli made so many words (Only 8,500? Only? What's that about?)

Yeah, Genene, your day is coming so soon!!!

And, Kendra, yoo-hoo How'd you do?

Paty, moving your cabin to Princeton?

Do you mean literally? As in moving a wooden building from one place to another? How big is this cabin anyway?

Sounds like another ambitious project!

Hi guys. I made 9K out of the 10K I wanted, so I'm shooting for 11K this week. I'm in the same boat as Elisabeth with the kiddos (and husband) home all week. I may be delusional from too many Reeses peanut butter cups.

Wow, Genene! SOTH looks so cool on the coming soon page!!! (And I love the idea of the Easter beaver. Now why didn't I think of that?!)

Way to go on the revision count, Paty. You'll be through the revisions in not time at that pace.

And I second the other question...how do you move a cabin?

Alice, holidays are hard to work around. Ack! Glad to hear the plots are still percolating. While driving home from G'ma's house tonight I think I came up with a better opening for my third book. I'm letting it percolate a bit before writing it.

And the 8500 words...yeah, it's good. But I need to do at least10 pgs per day and I didn't get that much this week. Several days I got zippo because of stuff (read: KIDS). The days I did work I got more than 10...but still. It's gotta be ten. Keeping that up will be tough this week.

Kendra...uber close! I'll be sending you positive writing vibes this week with the DH and kids home (please send them back my way!!!)

The cabin we built is 10x20. We jacked it up and put it on an 8x 24 trailer and pulled it to Princeton, then we jacked it, drove the trailer out from under it and lowered it down on blocks and hooked electricity up to it.

And that's how I spent my Easter weekend.

Genene, I agree with Eli, your cover looks awesome!

Kendra, don't worry about what you didn't do, but the huge number you did manage.

Alice, the more you think it out the faster it will come to you.

Kendra, 9000 words is fantastic! You and Eli are tough taskmasters for yourselves! I wish you both luck in the coming week in writing around kids and spouses. :)

Thanks, everyone, for the kudos on the SONGS cover.

Paty, how long did you say it will be before you retire to Princeton? Or is this a weekend, take-a-break place? Sounds like you did a lot of work on it this weekend!

Alice, hooray for creating/plotting a book. That's what I'm itching to do, but I'm forcing myself to wait until I get the other things on my list done. In the meantime, I'm letting the ideas percolate -- I like that term, Eli -- and jotting down notes so I don't forget any "brilliant" ideas. :)

By the way, Paty, are you still planning your series? Or sidetracked on revisions right now? You did a lot -- 125 pages of revisions is super!

Thanks, Alice! Promo is moving along, the book is scheduled for release ... but I haven't seen any reviews yet. Should I panic now or later? LOL!
