Eli's Challenge

Weekend Warrior here. I,607 and a bit of tweaking today. How is everyone else doing on this challenge , their self imposed challenge or any other writing schedule? Or just with a day of writing. It's fun to check in.

Honest.

Nothing today on the WIP. BUT I'm done with other things that have been keeping me from it and will get to Miner tomorrow if my dh doesn't keep me busy all day.

Congrats, Alice! You're doing great!

I'm sticking to my plan to work on the business side of writing until after the holidays. Did a lot of work on my promotion plan yesterday and worked on my Web site update today. I'm very pleased with how it's shaping up.

Hope you get at least a little bit of time to work on Miner on Sunday, Paty!

Great, Alice! You're moving right along. I got 3158 yesterday, but that includes a few hundred I wrote on Wednesday. Not a very productive week last week, so I made up for it yesterday.

I have family in town right now and I didn't touch the WIP today at all. I'm hoping to wail on it tomorrow. I'm at 48,888 words and though my goal is 100,000, the book may end up shorter than that. It fact, I'm thinking more like 90,000 based on where I am now with the plot.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Sounds as though everyone is doing great with their "plan." I attended a workshop where the speaker talked about how to up production from two books a year to three. In her plan, she mentioned the fact that with three books comes the added responsibilities of additional editing, galleys, art fact sheets, etc... and it is so true. The more you write and sell, the more attendant work piles up and that HAS to be taken care of, as well. Add in promotion, and ack!

I have big hopes for today like you do, Paty and Karen. Let's check in later and see how they panned out.

And way to go Genene -- you defined your goals and you are sticking to them!

Well, it's Sunday afternoon and I think I'm finished for the day. I had thought I would get farther, but I'm nearing the last thirty pages now and things are tricky. I need time to think. Plus, I have noticed if I put in twice as many hours and words as usual, I kind of dry up the next day and right now continuity is more important than word count.

So, I am stopping with 1325. How about the rest of you? Did you have a vacation day, a writing day or a do something else day?

I had a turkey-soup-making sort of a day, although I did squeeze in a little editing and some editor research.

Way to go on the word counts Alice and Karen. You on fire!

Genene -- way to go with the business aspect, and Paty, best of luck getting some pages done on Miner.

I only got about 700 words today, Sunday. Said goodbye to my daughter this morning at breakfast at Shari's before she headed back to Eugene with my adorable grandson and her new boyfriend. I came home stuffed with pancakes and did lots of interesting research on angel magic and alchemy. I also followed a fascinating blog on a new author whose book was just bought at auction. I tracked her experience with the agent hunt, including multiple rejections before she found the right fit for her and her book. I'm so happy for her success! Yet it's comforting to know that good things happen to writers who endure multiple disappointments and still come out on top. Viva perseverance! Woo hoo!

I'll try to squeak more words in on the WIP tomorrow morning before the day job consumes me.

No writing was done yesterday. In fact the computer wasn't even turned on. DH decided he was in the mood to work on the room we've been remodeling. So I played carpenter's assistant all day.

Today I have to make and then take posters to the Book store in Bend for my signing there this Saturday. And I have to do some errands. So I'm not sure I'll get writing done today, but I am definitely spending time tomorrow to get back into the groove of Miner and get some words down!

Congrats to all of you who did get writing and writing related things done over the weekend!

3000 words for the weekend for me. Not great, but we were vacationing with friends so I'll consider it a minor-success. Hopefully be back to the grindstone tonight after the kidlets go to bed.

Congrats on being so close to finishing, Alice!
