100-Day Challenge

Hey is the official half-way mark of our 100-day challenge. Fifty days down, fifty more to go. How's everyone doing? Give us an update. Inquiring minds want to know.

I just closed my doc for the day and I got 1991 new words in. That puts me at 59,404 for the challenge...a little ahead, but not enough to take it for granted. Unfortunately, my 59K isn't all in one book (wouldn't that be nice???) but in several projects, but I'm not discounting anything. Progress is progress.

Good job, Eli! You and Alice are really burning up the keyboards!

Do you usually work on more than one project at a time? Or is this unusual for you? Just curious as I don't seem to finish anything when I bounce among projects.

But you are making good progress!

No, Genene, this isn't normal for me. When we started the 100-Day challenge, I needed something to jumpstart me into finishing a manuscript I'd kind of stalled on (I'm competitive, so this works for me). I finished that, then had several ideas I wanted to work on, so decided to write up a couple of proposals. My agent's really good about reading proposals and giving me feedback on whether or not she thinks an idea will fly, so instead of committing myself to a full book that might *not* be sellable, I decided to put together these proposals instead. The goal is that by the time I'm done with these proposals, she'll have read some of the other stuff I sent her and I'll know which one I'm going to focus on finishing next.

At least that's the plan . . .

Eli -- It sounds like a good plan.

I haven't done anything for a couple of days. Had the 2,000 word day on Monday, then tweaked and rewrote and considered where to go next. till not sure but will pick a spot knowing it can be pushed forward later if need be. Tomorrow I travel to Seattle and then the conf. and then home. Regret the time usage in a way as there's a lot to do right here at this keyboard, but on the other hand, who knows where inspiration will come from next?

I'll check back tonight, hopefully with my 1,000 words. Let's be honest. Hopefully with a lot more than 1,000 words!

Way to go Eli and Alice. Hats off to you both.

Me? No writing to report, just work on photography marketing, taking the little squirt to swimming lessons, and having the house roofed as we speak.
